It’s important to look out for the origins of your limiting beliefs because every belief you hold onto have references which supports it. It’s very crucial to know that each of your limiting beliefs serves a purpose. Limiting beliefs are there as a protector of you. They are protecting you from something. This “something” bring a sense of pain in you.
These limiting beliefs are formed inside you as a result repeated thoughts, and holds weight and pain because you have decided that they are true. Limiting beliefs are very hard to change and seems daunting when you try to change. Luckily, there are a few steps you can follow in order to make the shift to new, more empowering beliefs.
This 4 step process works for overcoming any limiting belief into an empowering belief.
1. Identify the limiting belief you want to change.
2. Determine how the belief limits you.
3. Decide how you want to be, act, or feel.
4. Create a turnaround statement that affirms or gives you permission to be, act, or feel this new way.
Example:
Negative: If I express my true feelings, people will think I’m weak and take advantage of me.
Turnaround: The more I express my true feelings, the more people love, respect and support me.
