Step by step Process of Effective Goal Setting/ Affirmations

Step 1: Make a list of Top 10 things that you do not want in your current situation. You can choose different aspects of life such as Family & Relationship, Faith and Spirituality, Finances and Career, Health and Fitness, Friends etc.

Step 2: Once your “Do not Want” list is ready, go over it 5-6 times and preferably with your spouse. And make sure that nothing is left out.

Step 3: The take a fresh page re-write the same items differently. If I don’t want this, what do I really want.

For example, if you have written in your first list, “I don’t want my spouse to treat me like a maid servant.”

You could re-write the same thing maybe as follows:

I want my spouse to treat me like a King/Queen and provide all love and care that I deserve.

Step 4: Now choose any two Most important goals from the new list and think how would you feel if that goal is fulfilled?

For example, if your spouse really starts appreciating everything that you do for him and provides you the love, care and the needed support you could be thrilled, feel being lucky, or feeling blessed throughout the day, or feeling very happy and excited, or feeling peaceful.

It is very critical that you take time and really visualize and experience the feelings you will have if that goal is fulfilled.

Write down those feelings against each item.

Step 5: Now re-write those two goals in present continuous tense. Remember to include your feelings as a result of the goal being fulfilled. For example you could write: “I am feeling on top of the world and really blessed now that my spouse has started loving and caring for me. I’m feeling very happy and joyous as he/she is appreciating what I am doing for him.”

Step 6: Now every day start writing these goals/ affirmations in your diary six times in the morning while reading it aloud. After you write each time, stop, close your eyes and visualize the goal being completed and feel the feeling. Remember, you must feel the feeling while visualizing each goal. Repeat the same six times for each goal.

Note: I am recommending you to start with only two goals at a time. That makes it a bite size. And you could finish the whole exercise in less than 20 minutes.

Keep your affirmations crisp and short, so that you can easily remember it without any mistake or confusion.

You could repeat the same exercise at night just before you go to sleep. That way, your subconscious mind will continue to working on it the whole night.

When you continue doing this for 30 days in a row, you will see that the Universe will move to bring you what you want in your life.

Keep doing this till your desires are fulfilled.

Then take the next two goals. And then take the next two goals. And so on. Keep your energy focused.

Avoid the temptation of work on more than two goals at a time.
