Showing Respect towards Women
Women like to be treated with respect. A lot of men treat women like they are objects. This, however, is very wrong. Women are people just like us.
God calls us to respect all people, especially women. We should also respect women because God respects women. We are all made in the image of God; so we are all equal.
Respecting women cannot be a rule, but surely it can be a responsibility.
Learning respect for women starts at home when boys watch how their mothers, sisters, and other women are treated and talked about by men. So when men at home treat women like they’re equally worthy and valued as people with needs, feelings, intelligence, skills, and power, boys are much more likely to grow up to do the same.
Do you sexually or verbally harass your mom, daughter, or sister? How about your wife or significant other? Do you disrespect them all the time? Do you look at them as objects for you to do whatever you wish?
No?
Then why would you do it to other people’s moms, daughters, sisters, or wives? What in the world makes you think this is okay?
It’s easy to treat everyone with respect. You probably don’t have to like everyone, but there is absolutely no reason to harass, intimidate, put down, or disrespect anyone.
Appreciate the women in your life. Whether it’s a spouse, significant other, mother, daughter, sister, or co-worker. It doesn’t matter. In fact, appreciate everyone in your life, not just the women.
But, the next time you think about sexually harassing, bullying, or disrespecting women (or anyone for that matter), think about if it was your mom, daughter or sister. Think about how you would like it if that was done to your wife or significant other. It is never okay to treat someone like a lot of women are being treated. You can change your behaviour any time you want.
It’s NOT HARD to treat women with respect. In fact, it’s EASY.
